As I was reading this book the thought that kept coming to mind was, This man teaches as one having authority and not as the political pundits. Despite the biblical allusion, I'm not suggesting the author is the Second Coming or anything like that. Perhaps Dewey's authoritative voice comes as the result of having done his homework to an amazingly thorough degree.The book's points are explored from every angle and backed up by an amazing wealth of research. In fact his conclusions are so well supported as to be almost entirely beyond dispute. All the illusions we Americans cling to are unceremoniously shattered to bits and the bleakness of our present situation is laid bare.
Thankfully, the author presents real, workable solutions that are by far the most practical I have ever seen. He gives convincing examples to illustrate how much power we the people really have. Who knew?! It would not be an exaggeration to say that this book single-handedly reawakened in me a hope for our nation's future.
This may not be the most polished presentation I've seen, but the content more than makes up for any roughness. When the ideas in this book start to gain traction, they are likely to enrage those few who feel their will is already being done. For those of us with eyes to see that our freedoms are increasingly being stomped on, I say let's get this started right now!!!

Fixing America is a great book and a great way to do as the title says...Fixing America and getting us back on our feets. This world needs a book like this to help us fix what is wrong with America.

Molecular Politics may well be the greatest idea since representative democracy; indeed, it is the best practical implementation of representative democracy. Seriously. And it couldn't have happened much before now, because the means simply were not available until recently.
The problem is this Far too often legislators do not vote according to the informed majority will of their constituents, but rather cast their votes based on pressure from lobbyists, political action groups, misleading polls, party leadership, vote-trading, personal prejudice, or even ignorance (how many legislators actually read the bill before they vote?). As a result, the quality of legislation that gets passed in Congress is quite poor, and this is reflected in a) the general decline of America, and b) the low approval ratings for Congress. And of all the branches of government, Congress should have the highest approval ratings because it should be the most directly linked to the will of the people.
In a nutshell, the solution proposed by Molecular Politics is this The will of the people can now be reliably transmitted to legislators by registered voters casting votes through secure websites. Legislators who have pledged to represent the will of their constituents would be honor-bound to vote accordingly, regardless of their personal opinion on the issue. This would be far better than having legislators voting based on all the bad influences mentioned above. Imagine such a legislator running for office, and fielding questions "Mr. Candidate, how will you vote on the XYZ controversial hot-button issue?" "I will vote according to the majority will of my constituents." Now that's the way it ought to be done! I may disagree personally on this or that issue, but I don't mind giving in to the informed will of the majority as long as I am confident that's what's really happening.
Obviously I haven't presented all the intricacies of Molecular Politics here, and I'm sure you can think of potential problems with this approach, but the author has thought this through extremely well and has very likely answered your objections. His book answered mine, and I'm not easy to win over. You won't find me championing very many causes because I see very few things as black and white, but I'm 100% behind JJ Dewey's Molecular Politics concept because it is simply right that the will of the majority of voters shows up in the votes of their representatives. Read the book and see how your objections are answered, and see if this doesn't kindle the flame in you, even if you're as put-off by politics in general as I am!
This is the revolution that we need here in America, the common ground that can actually unite the tea party and the Occupy movement. The United States pretty much gave the world democracy; we showed the world that it could work and work well, and democracy is still the dream of oppressed people everywhere. The need is upon us to take it to the next level. We need the next revolution, we need an American Spring. If I may borrow the words of modern-day prophet Leonard Cohen, from "Democracy"

This is it. This idea is too good to ignore. Molecular Politics is real democracy, and it's coming to the U.S.A.
The essence of Mr. Dewey's Molecular Politics boils down to two things
1) Back off a few steps and see clearly. JJ Dewey's version of seeing clearly shows through the entire book as common sense insights. His examples how human energies play out in politics remind me very much of a chess master teaching how to recognize developing patterns. I read a lot and I'm pretty aware of politics. Yet Mr. Dewey constantly showed me fresh ways to look at old problems. I thought I had heard it all. But after reading this book, politics will never be the same.
2) Emphasize majority will. Majority will, though imperfect, is more reliable and safer than ALL the Special Interests. I had not really understood this before. Now I see certain issues out there enjoy 65% or more majority will support. We can capitalize on these issues to create positive change. California Proposition 13 shows a solid example of this. Mr. Dewey's ideas lead us in this direction and set the stage for much wider participation and for breaking through the divisive issues to cooperation on strong majority will issues. Very smart.
I love Mr. Dewey's 95 Theses. Martin Luther created the 95 Theses to expose those who sold out morality for money and power. JJ Dewey presents his 95 Theses to expose those who sold out liberty for money and power. This leaves us a checklist of majority will issues we can use to rally together despite our differences on the divisive issues. When you read this list, you feel the power of majority will unity. Now that I see the difference between these two types of issues, comparing divisive issues to majority will issues, I can unite with majority will much more readily. Mr. Dewey shows how to parse majority will issues from divisive issues and from Special Interest issues. You will see politics more clearly than ever before.
Finally, Mr. Dewey's careful and comprehensive analysis of money and government, including his stunning conclusions, changed my understanding and views of money forever. For one thing, the vocabulary of deep money issues now feels comfortable to me. His patient treatment dispelling pat-answer-money-ideas expands your thinking invaluably.
The Legislation Transparency Act, known as Read the Bill and now beginning its first public showing in Oklahoma, derives from Mr. Dewey's ideas.
From fresh insights, deeper understanding, and a new form of unity, apathy sinks away. If you want to understand where politics leads us in this 21st century, you must read this book. You'll be glad you did.
